Christen and Kalvin’s wedding at Sage Lodge, which is nestled in the Absoroka Mountain Range in Paradise Valley just outside of Yellowstone National Park, was nothing short of a dream. I know, I know, that is sooooo dang cheesy, but I was in awe every single minute of this day. Their love story, which I’ll talk about in a second, their details, their people, the weather, EVERYTHING, was sooo magical. It didn’t seem real.
Christen and Kalvin were high school sweethearts. Eventually the two broke up as they found themselves in their young age. TEN YEARS after they broke up, Kalvin wrote and sent Christen a love letter and the rest is history. They got back together and soon married in their home state. Their love, so tender and sweet, is one to be desired. I adore a love story with some history and major backbone. These two made it to this day and it was every bit of beautiful as you would think.
The day was quite cold and windy, a snowstorm picked up during their ceremony, covering the peaks seen through the big, glass windows behind them. After their I dos, the snow settled down and we went into the untouched snow field, the peaks surfaced, and a herd of elk decided to hang out in the back as well. Too perfect.
The details were incredible, too. Jewel winter tones are my favorite and this wedding had all of them. Dark greens, golds, blacks, whites, and lush tones of red. Candles lit up the long wooden tables, a live country rock band played, laughter filled the room, and tears fell from faces as loved ones gave toasts.
