Stephanie is pretty much a famous author now so when she asked me to take her family portraits for her 4oth birthday I felt a little intimidated even though I’ve known her for years.  We had so much fun and it had been a while since I had seen her girls and I couldn’t believe, as they all say, how big they have gotten.  Stephanie is just about to go on her first book tour for her book Maid.  I have not read it yet so I can’t tell you what it’s about but I do know it highlights the struggles of low income families and single moms.  I seriously can’t wait to read it.  I grew up in a single parent household and everything Stephanie writes and speaks about, whether it is on social media, articles, or her blog, resonates with me and I’m super proud of her being bold enough to stand up for those struggling to get by every day.  Her life has not been easy but she is giving a voice to those like her by speaking out and writing about her experience. And what a strong and powerful example to set for her two beautiful daughters.  When we met up I just loved to see the girls just wearing whatever they wanted.  And, of course, Stephanie wore her Carhartts because those are her signature style pants.  I’m all for being unique, individual, and exactly who you are and that is what this whole session felt like to me.
