I can’t believe it has been over a year since I last posted on my blog. I have had a ton going on. Firstly, we moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho six weeks ago. Secondly, I had a baby! It is very exciting news, of course, but he almost didn’t make it in utero. He came almost 3 months early as well so we have been very busy with him. Because of my complications, I couldn’t do much shooting last year as I was either on bed rest, in the NICU or with my other kiddo. It has been a year, for sure, but we are feeling like we are coming out the other side. I will save a post for this experience another time, but I just wanted to update you all that I am still taking pictures. I just had to put my business on the side as I tended to my newborn’s health and my family.
When Holden was in the NICU, my photographer friend, Erika, asked me to take some engagement pics for her. I jumped at the chance since it had been months since I had done any pictures and I needed an escape. We decided on the Bitterroot and ended up driving for a very long time to the top of some mountain neither of us knew. It was amazing. We did a bit of bushwhacking, the roads were terrible so no one was close by, and we had the most gorgeous sunset. This shoot brought some life back to me I very much needed at the time. To be up in the mountains, away from everything, experiencing solace outside of a hospital room, breathing in the cool winds and smells of pine, gave me a peace I hadn’t felt for some time. I’ll never forget this one.
