Sarah and Dustin had the best friends and family celebration in the Bitterroot Valley at the cutest, quaintest little ranch in Montana. They were a covid engagement. Instead of waiting, they eloped and had a baby, but decided they still wanted to celebrate their union with their dearest people so they threw the most fun and heartfelt party to celebrate. There was bluegrass, sushi, disco balls, an ice cream truck, and lots of boots and cowboy hats. When we spoke, Sarah told me the most important thing to them was getting as many pictures as possible of their guests. They didn’t have a ceremony, just lots of good food, a photo booth, dancing, and some very sweet and thoughtful toasts one of which was a poem written by Dustin’s dad. Of course, I still took the detail pics and couple pics because they make up the story but this was all very in the moment, by the moment, candid and as raw as it could get. I love when a couple trusts me to “just go for it” without many requests or rules or even much of a time frame. It allows me to be so present and witness everything in it’s most genuine form. As always, it was such a joy to photograph this couple and all of their favorite people.
