I traveled north from my home in Idaho Falls, Idaho to photograph the cutest couple in one of my very favorite places: Butte, Montana. Christina and Marcus called me only a few weeks before to ask if I had any availability for their spur of the moment micro-wedding. I met them through mutual friends over the summer and knew they were engaged and couldn’t be more thrilled they asked me to do it! I was available and say yes and not too much later I was in my car traveling through the hills of Idaho to the mountains of Montana. If you haven’t been, Butte is a place everyone should go. It’s not necessarily for everyone, it’s gritty, old, and full of sass, but it’s history alone is worth a trip. Once the most populous city west of the Mississippi because of all it’s mining success, it still celebrates it’s history with most of the old buildings remaining the same as they once were. Butte is also proud of it’s Irish heritage and has one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the country. Christina and Marcus relish the history of Butte. They were married in the courthouse and celebrated in the Copper King mansion just a few blocks north of it, both buildings maculate with ornate and maximalist detail and vintage accessories. It truly was a unique and special day.
